Creative Math
Creative Math is our foundational program designed to develop children who love math. We recognize that a love of math –and the development of a positive disposition and identity as a young mathematician – starts at a very young age. We have developed a mathematics program that is child-centered and engages the whole child.
The goal of the Creative Math program is for K-6 students to develop their mathematical thinking and problem-solving practices. Through puzzles, brainteasers, games, math magic, and design projects, students will be introduced to various mathematical topics including topology, logic, probability, combinatorics, mathematical modeling, game theory, and number theory. While games and math challenges are the initial entry point to pique students’ curiosity, The Creative Math program goes deeper to explore math patterns, theories, and concepts. The overall result: students flex their mathematical thinking and have ample fun at the same time. Creative Math can be launched as an integral part of the curriculum, an after school program, a Family Math event, or an intensive unit aligned with the mathematical practices in the Common Core State Standards. |
